Successful management of a pregnant mare with complete superficial flexor tendon rupture

16th of May 2022

In Summer 2021, my mare Millie sustained a second injury after being retired from ridden work to her superficial flexor tendon, which she initially injured out eventing, leaving her with a 100% lesion, this being the same week as her being confirmed in foal. We had a tough decision to make regarding whether we let her carry on with her pregnancy. However, our vet recommended the Equestride Support Device to help stabilise and aid her leg throughout rehab and her pregnancy.

With weekly consultations with Andrew Daly of Equestride, Millie made significant progress with her tendon rehabilitation with the Equestride Support System. This allowed her to continue going out in the field and being a horse. Also, her rehab was a more bearable and enjoyable experience for both of us.

Now in May 2022, Millie has a beautiful filly foal at foot, and both are thriving and doing well. Millie continues to wear the Equestride support in the field to help stabilise and support her leg whilst Everley (her foal) is enjoying her first few months free to gallop about as a foal should.

Without the Equestride Support, Millie would not have been able to carry on her pregnancy, she would not have been able to nurse her foal as well as she did, and definitely would not have recovered as quickly or as well as she has! She is sound, happy and an excellent Mum to Everley!

20th April, 2024

Hi Andrew

I hope you are keeping well. I just wanted to share a little update on Millie, she’s been incredible and so sound. She was an awesome Mum to Everley, who’s nearly two and already the size of Millie.

Millie even did some in-hand showing last year, and today on a bit of a whim, I got on her and she felt and looked incredible. So, I just wanted to thank you for all your support, especially during those uncertain times when things were touch and go.

You played such a vital role in her rehab journey, and it’s thanks to you that she’s thriving now.

It’s been a lot of hard work, but every bit of it has been worth it. I’ll definitely keep in touch!

Successful recovery from acute catastrophic failure of both forelimb suspensory ligaments

August 2022

Equestride treatment was key to saving my horse. After a field injury, both front legs suffered damaged suspensory ligaments, causing dropped fetlocks. My poor horse was in terrible pain and barely able to move, despite the best vet care and painkillers. He just stood in one place shifting weight from one leg to the other. My vet and I were seriously worried about his prognosis.

Then my vet Nick Freeman recommended Equestride. The Equestride device holds the fetlock up and transfers the weight to the pastern and cannon bone. This means the pressure is off the suspensory ligaments which then have a chance to heal.

Andrew Daly, founder and inventor of Equestride, could not have been more responsive or have done more to help us. With his immense patience and knowledge, he taught us how to fit the boots and then monitored progress on video conferences weekly to start with, and then fortnightly as things improved. Each time we spoke, the fitting or the protocol was adjusted for the next period.

We gradually built up the length of time the boots could be worn, starting at 5 minutes a day while on strict box rest. We gradually moved up to an hour including in hand grazing and turnout. Eventually he wore them for four hours a day of turn out. He was able to canter around his field safely because of the support the Equestride  boots provide, and he was absolutely loving having his normal horse life back again.

When his suspensory ligaments became sufficiently stable and strong, he was weaned off wearing the devices altogether. Now he should be able to have a long and happy retirement. Without Equestride, I don’t believe that would have been possible.

I am deeply grateful to Andrew Daly and my vet Nick Freeman for their expert care.

I have known Margaret Sambell Duncan’s horse ‘Will’ for over 8 years.  He has worked hard over a long career and is now in retirement. However, in November 2021 he suffered from a rapid, catastrophic failure of both forelimb suspensory ligaments.  He was in considerable distress from the pain and routine supports were not working.  The Equestride support boots gave us an easily applied, powerful support system that not only got him over the initial pain phase, but also allowed a gradual rehabilitation.  Without the Equestride Support System, I am certain we would have lost Will.

Complete Recovery and Return to Soundness After Complex Distal Limb Injury in a Young Warmblood

Seeker, my 2 year old warmblood, suffered a devastating injury in a freak pasture accident. Her diagnosis was overwhelming: a 40% lesion in the deep digital flexor tendon (DDFT), an avulsion fracture of the navicular bone, damage to the Impar ligament, lateral oblique sesamoidean ligament, and distal digital annular ligament desmitis. She was in so much discomfort that she spent nearly 90% of her days lying down.

We tried everything - multiple rounds of PRP, shockwave therapy, casting and even a Patton bar shoe. While each intervention helped to some degree, she still refused to bear weight on the injured leg. That’s when I discovered EqueStride, and I truly believe their injury management device was the turning point. It saved my horse’s life.

Managing a giant 2 year old warmblood on stall rest for seven months is not for the faint hearted. But once Seeker realised the device allowed her to put weight on the leg without pain, she became noticeably more comfortable and mobile. After just a month in the EqueStride device, she was feeling good enough for hand walking and grazing.

The most remarkable point about the EqueStride was its ability to prevent catastrophic reinjury during her ‘baby moments’,  those dramatic leaps and bounds that could have undone everything. The carbon injury device is incredibly durable; we truly put it to the test.

A few months into using the device, Seeker was ready for small paddock turnout, and the device made that transition smooth and safe. But the device alone wasn’t the only thing that made our EqueStride experience exceptional. The regular meetings with one of their vets were invaluable.  I was guided through every step and they were a constant source of support throughout the journey.

We used the EqueStride device for a total of eight months. Now, one year later, Seeker is 100% sound, happily back in the pasture with her friends. While she may never become the upper-level event horse I once dreamed of, I’m incredibly grateful to the EqueStride team for giving her a second chance and restoring her quality of life.

Seeker is heading off to the trainer in a couple of months, and with any luck, she’ll become a dressage queen. Hopefully, you’ll see us in the ring soon!

Recovery and Complete Soundness Following a Severe SDFT Injury

How can we possibly express our gratitude for literally saving the life of our sweet boy?  Rocky, 19 years old, sustained a severe SDFT injury, and with his history of Cushings and laminitis, our vet warned us that recovery would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.

To now see him back out in the field with his friends is nothing short of a dream come true.

We found EqueStride shortly after the injury, and they were incredible from the very beginning. Andrew Daly, inventor and founder, provided clear instructions on how to fit the device, followed by regular support calls every other week with one of their brilliant vets. Rocky made steady progress throughout, and we genuinely believe we wouldn’t be where we are today without their guidance and the device itself.

I wholeheartedly recommend EqueStride to anyone facing a similar challenge. Thank you for helping Rocky reclaim his life, we’ll never forget it.

Recovery From a 100% SDFT Rupture

Dr. Davis completed Lewie’s six-month exam and ultrasound, and was genuinely pleased with his progress. Lewie is now enjoying full turnout, and I’ve started riding him for 30 minutes, three times a week. It’s mostly at the walk, with about five minutes of trot work, but he’s been incredibly willing, forward-going and feeling sounder with every ride.

We still have more months ahead in his recovery, but I truly never thought I’d ever sit on him again. I’m 100% certain we wouldn’t have reached this point without EqueStride.

Beyond the science and biomechanics of what this injury management device does, its impact on Lewie, a horse who doesn’t tolerate stall rest well, was immeasurable. It allowed him to get back outside almost immediately for hand grazing and offered a glimpse of a working horse routine, even if just for a few minutes at a time. That made the world of difference for both of us.

Having the device during those first four months was nothing short of amazing. I honestly can’t imagine navigating this type of injury without it,  or without your support. I’ve been telling all my horse friends and trainers about it!

Recovery from recurring DDFT injury

Ziggy sustained a field injury that was diagnosed on ultrasound as damage to the DDFT. His rehabilitation journey was anything but straightforward. Hand-walking was a daily challenge due to his spooky nature, and repeated setbacks from spinning, slipping on the road, and overly enthusiastic turnout attempts kept sending us back to square one.

We were filled with dread every time he left the stable!

A Google search led us to EqueStride, and this marked the beginning of a transformative three-month recovery. With the help of this innovative injury management device, and weekly support calls from EqueStride’s founder and inventor, Andrew Daly and one of his veterinary team, we finally found a structured path forward.

Once we got the hang of fitting the device, it became quick and easy to use and Ziggy accepted it without issue. From that point on, everything changed.

The EqueStride device was a complete game changer. It gave us the confidence to resume road work and controlled turnout, and Ziggy progressed steadily without further injury. Even after he no longer needed the support, we used it for a two-mile walk to a new yard and safe herd turnout across eight acres, once again without setbacks.

Screenshot 2025-10-21 123338.png

He’s now hacking out at walk, marking the hopeful beginning of ridden rehabilitation, something we never thought would be possible. When asked what outcome we were hoping for, our answer was simple: for Ziggy to be field sound and comfortable enough to live in a herd. To now see him out being ridden again is nothing short of joyful.

Huge thanks to the EqueStride team for their support and expertise. We would highly recommend them to anyone facing a similar journey.

Return to Soundness and Successful Pregnancy Management Following Traumatic Laceration to the SDFT and Tendon Sheath in the Left Hind Leg

After a serious car accident, my mare, Ohara, sustained a traumatic injury to her left hind leg, including a severe laceration to the SDFT and tendon sheath. We didn’t know what her future would look like after surgery or if recovery was even possible.

However, thanks to EqueStride, I was able to get her fit enough to return to the field and enjoy life as a mom. The injury management support device played a crucial role in her rehabilitation, helping us progress from walking to her first trots with confidence and control. Andrew Daly and his EqueStride team provided exceptional guidance throughout, tailoring the support to her healing needs.

Today, Ohara is sound, something we were told might never happen. She now enjoys her days out with her foal, pain-free and full of life. I’m deeply grateful to both my vet and the EqueStride team for making this recovery possible.

Successful Turnout Rehabilitation Following a Complete SDFT Rupture in Retired Warmblood Gelding, Henry

My vet gave me a very damning prognosis on my otherwise vibrant, energetic 23 year old 16.3hh thoroughbred, after suffering a significant SDFT rupture. It seemed hopeless. After six weeks of a living nightmare of box rest, limited hand grazing and little improvement, I sought a second opinion.

The second vet recommended EqueStride to support Henry’s rehabilitation, and after speaking with Andrew Daly in April 2022, the device arrived promptly. With Andrew’s expert guidance via video call, we were able to fit it correctly and begin Henry’s recovery journey.

Following an initial period of leg conditioning, it wasn’t long before Henry could safely graze in a small paddock wearing the EqueStride injury management device. This gave Henry a sense of freedom and for me, reassurance, knowing he could enjoy turnout without risking further injury. The structured rehabilitation,  including progressive in-hand walking helped his tendon fibres heal in a strong, flexible way while also rebuilding lost muscle.

Regular check-ins with Andrew ensured the device was adjusted as needed throughout the healing process, giving us a clear and confident plan to follow. The relief EqueStride provided was truly life-changing. Watching Henry return to a more normal life, outside of the stable and free to move safely, was incredible.

Today, he enjoys his days out in a 3-acre field,  sometimes cantering around, showing off just how strong and flexible his tendon has become.

Best of all, I am riding him again 😊

I wholeheartedly recommend EqueStride rehabilitation to anyone navigating a tendon injury. I’m deeply grateful to both my vet and to EqueStride for the incredible care and support. Without them, my horse’s recovery wouldn’t have been possible.

Full Recovery and Return to Competing Following Hind Suspensory Ligament and Hyper Extension Injury in Dressage Horse, Tay

11th May 2015

Hi Andrew

I’m absolutely thrilled to share the fantastic news, my horse Tay has been confirmed sound! Last week, we began canter work while hacking, and in just a few more weeks, I’ll be starting dressage schooling again.

This milestone is a testament to the expertise of referring veterinarian, Professor Andy Fiske Jackson at the Royal Veterinary College, and to the transformative role of the EqueStride injury management treatment. I’m a firm believer in its effectiveness, it has truly turned Tay’s healing journey around.

Thank you so much for helping us get here. I couldn’t be happier with his progress!

26th July 2016

Hi Guys

Just thought that I would give you an update on Tay as it now been over two years since he first injured his suspensory ligament and just over a year since he was confirmed sound after using the EqueStride injury management device.

Bottom line ... He is fab!  He is now schooling better than ever before working at elementary / medium level at home and finding the work easy. He is back out competing and out of the three competitions and six tests he has done over the last few months he has won four of them and been placed in the other two. To say I'm pleased with him is a massive understatement!!

So I guess I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for your dedication to getting him right!

Attached are some pictures of him at our last competition

Managing Acute SDFT Rupture: Dr. Mairi Sinclair’s Testimonial on EqueStride’s Transformative Role

Following an acute rupture of the SDFT after a field accident in February 2022, we knew Riley faced a long and challenging road to recovery. The EqueStride injury management device proved to be an invaluable part of his treatment plan, which also included Renutend stem cell therapy, extended rest and a carefully structured rehabilitation programme.

Thanks to its ability to modulate loading on the flexor tendons, the EqueStride device was used throughout Riley’s entire recovery, under the expert and supportive guidance of its inventor, Andrew Daly. Crucially, the device enabled Riley to begin controlled movement and turnout much earlier than would have otherwise been possible. This played a vital role not only in supporting tendon healing, but also in maintaining Riley’s mental wellbeing by avoiding prolonged box rest.

Ultrasound scans revealed a healing quality far beyond what I would typically expect given the severity of the original injury. I would highly recommend EqueStride in similar cases, along with the exceptional care and attention provided by Andrew Daly throughout the process.

Hello Andrew

Hello Andrew, I must thank you for everything in the past year. I am truly grateful for your professionalism, obvious expertise & kindness you’ve shown to my horse, Riley. It is largely thanks to you that my little lad is still with me and in such good form. I am delighted to wholeheartedly endorse the EqueStride treatment to anyone facing the kind of challenge Riley did. Quite simply, I believe that without EqueStride I wouldn’t have my horse today.
